Wetterhall Double Bit Axe, 1.6 kg Premium: A Legacy of Precision and Power

The Wetterhall Double Bit Axe, 1.6 kg Premium is a masterpiece of craftsmanship, designed for both utility and competitive use. Originally employed by lumberjacks who needed a versatile tool with two sharp edges, this axe now finds its place in the hands of enthusiasts and competitors who appreciate its balance, precision, and durability.

Key Features:

  • Dual-Bladed Design for Versatility: The Wetterhall Double Bit Axe features two edges, allowing the user to switch between them for different tasks. One edge can be reserved for rough work, while the other remains razor-sharp for precise cutting. This dual functionality made it an indispensable tool for lumberjacks and continues to make it a favorite in competitive events.

  • Hand-Forged Swedish Steel: Each axe head is hand-forged from high-quality Swedish steel at the historic Hults Bruk forge, where axe-making traditions date back to 1697. The steel head is struck 40-60 times during the forging process, enhancing its density and ensuring exceptional durability. This meticulous craftsmanship results in an axe head that can withstand the most demanding tasks.

  • American Hickory Handle: The 760 mm (30 inches) handle is made from American hickory, known for its strength and shock-absorbing properties. Treated with linseed oil, the handle offers a secure and comfortable grip, making it easier to control during both rough and precision work.

  • Ready-to-Use Edge: The edges of the Wetterhall Double Bit Axe are sharpened, polished, and ready for immediate use. Whether you're felling trees, splitting wood, or competing in an axe-throwing event, this axe is designed to perform with excellence right out of the box.

  • Leather Sheath Included: To protect the axe head and maintain its sharpness, the Wetterhall Double Bit Axe comes with a high-quality leather sheath. This not only preserves the cutting edges but also adds to the overall longevity of the tool.

Specifications:

  • Head Weight: 1600 g
  • Total Weight (including handle): 2280 g
  • Handle Length: 760 mm (30 inches)
  • Handle Material: American Hickory
  • Edge Type: Dual sharp edges

THROWING AXE

Great Axe!!! If you like a heavier axe for throwing competitively, this is worth the investment. However, it comes with a professional woodsmen edge, to sharp for throwing, so find someone who can take the edge of a little.

Frequently Asked Questions about Axes & Hatchets?

Selecting the perfect axe depends on the tasks you plan to perform. For general, all-purpose use, a good rule of thumb is to hold the axe head in your hand with the handle pointing downward—the end of the handle should reach your armpit. Larger axes are ideal for felling trees, while smaller hatchets are great for splitting kindling and lighter duties.

We provide a comprehensive selection of axes to suit all your needs. Our inventory includes felling axes for cutting down trees, splitting axes and mauls for processing firewood, hatchets for camping and light chores, carpenter axes for woodworking projects, and specialized arborist saws. We also carry renowned brands like Gränsfors, Fiskars, Hultafors, and Ochsenkopf.

Selecting the perfect axe depends on the job at hand:

  • Felling Trees: Opt for a felling axe with a long handle and sharp blade designed to cut across the wood grain.
  • Splitting Logs: A splitting axe or maul with a heavy, wedge-shaped head is ideal for splitting wood along the grain.
  • Camping and Kindling: A hatchet or small hand axe is perfect for light chopping and easy to carry.
  • Carpentry and Woodworking: Choose a carpenter's axe for precision and control in detailed work.
