High quality craftmanship with a good palm swell. The only complaint I have is the grind on the edge; it could have been sharpened and profiled better.

Axe head looks nothing like the picture…

First glance, I noticed the factory edge was terrible… I mean TERRIBLE. Worst I’ve ever seen. Very course grit, like 150 grit finish, was not de-burred, and a very VERY inconsistent bevel.

I run a sharpening service, so I tuned it up. It’s now hair shaving sharp, with a somewhat uniform bevel (I’m not a magician). The steel sharpened well, so I’m not concerned about the heat treat. The primary bevel was also inconsistently ground, and the handle had some dings, which I’ve since fixed with a rasp and sandpaper.

If the axe came to me in the condition that it is now, I’d give it an 8/10 for the price. In the condition it actually arrived in, I’ll give it a 2.5/10

Would I recommend it? Probably not.
Maybe I just got a bad egg? Regardless, it made it past quality control, and that’s frightening.

I found this hatchet on line and was not familiar with the company. I read some online reviews and decided to purchase one.
The hatchet was far and above the quality that I was expecting for the price point. I would not hesitate to purchase additional items and will recommend this company to others.
