Unmatched Craftsmanship and Durability

The Gränsfors Small Hatchet is meticulously hand-forged from high-carbon steel, ensuring each piece meets the highest standards of quality and durability. The axe head is designed for exceptional sharpness and edge retention, allowing it to handle everyday tasks with ease and precision.

Compact and Ergonomic Design

This model features a short handle made from American hickory, known for its strength and shock-absorbing properties. Measuring approximately 13.5 inches, the compact handle provides excellent control and maneuverability, making it ideal for tasks such as kindling splitting, small carving projects, and general outdoor use. The ergonomic design ensures a comfortable and secure grip, reducing user fatigue and enhancing safety during use.

The Gränsfors Small Hatchet is engineered for outstanding performance across a variety of tasks. Its specially designed head, with a sharp edge and balanced weight, ensures clean and effective cuts with each swing. Why Choose the Gränsfors Small Hatchet (Model 410)?

  • Versatile Use: Ideal for kindling, carving, and general outdoor tasks.

Enhance Your Outdoor and Household Tasks

For those who demand the best in versatile tools, the Gränsfors Small Hatchet (Model 410) is an investment in superior performance and quality. Whether you're a camper, hiker, or homeowner, this hatchet will become an indispensable part of your toolkit.

The Gränsfors Small Hatchet is the lightest of all the axes from Gränsfors Bruk, making it perfect for hiking, when every kilo counts. The axe is excellent for limbing and splitting firewood, despite its diminutive size. The Small Hatchet was developed by Lennart Pettersson (LP), axe smith, knife smith and keen angler, who was looking to create a very light axe that still retained that axe feel. The slightly rounded poll functions like a ‘priest’ (used to hit fish over the head).
The axe is delivered with a sheath.

Experience the unmatched craftsmanship and efficiency of the Gränsfors Small Hatchet (Model 410) and elevate your outdoor and household tasks.

Here are the common types of materials used for axe blades:

  • Hand-Forged Swedish Steel: Crafted in the historic forge at Hults Bruk, the axe head is made from premium Swedish steel.
  • Hardened Forged Steel: blade stays sharp longer than traditional axes.

Frequently Asked Questions about Axes & Hatchets?

Selecting the perfect axe depends on the tasks you plan to perform. For general, all-purpose use, a good rule of thumb is to hold the axe head in your hand with the handle pointing downward—the end of the handle should reach your armpit. Larger axes are ideal for felling trees, while smaller hatchets are great for splitting kindling and lighter duties.

We provide a comprehensive selection of axes to suit all your needs. Our inventory includes felling axes for cutting down trees, splitting axes and mauls for processing firewood, hatchets for camping and light chores, carpenter axes for woodworking projects, and specialized arborist saws. We also carry renowned brands like Gränsfors, Fiskars, Hultafors, and Ochsenkopf.

Selecting the perfect axe depends on the job at hand:

  • Felling Trees: Opt for a felling axe with a long handle and sharp blade designed to cut across the wood grain.
  • Splitting Logs: A splitting axe or maul with a heavy, wedge-shaped head is ideal for splitting wood along the grain.
  • Camping and Kindling: A hatchet or small hand axe is perfect for light chopping and easy to carry.
  • Carpentry and Woodworking: Choose a carpenter's axe for precision and control in detailed work.
