AGDOR 26 Yankee Felling Axe

HU-840084

This compact felling axe is one of the most versatile axes in the HB product range. The Agdor 26 walks the line between axe and hatchet — small enough for making kindling yet capable of tree cutting. The curved 26-inch American hickory handle is perfectly sized for limbing, clearing brush, or backpacking short distances. The 2-pound hand-forged axe head delivers for felling, bucking, driving wedges, limbing downed trees, clearing trails, and light splitting for firewood processing.

Painted Agdor blue and expertly hand forged from premium Swedish steel, sharpened and ready to use out of the box. The cutting edge is approximately 3.62-inches in length. Note: all Hults Bruk axes are hand forged, so there may be slight variations from axe to axe.

  • The axe head is hand forged at the historic Hults Bruk, a forge that has been in operation since 1697.
  • Each axe is made from high-quality Swedish axe steel, expertly tempered to hold a very sharp edge even after repeated sharpening.
  • Painted iconic Agdor blue, sharpened ready to use.
  • Curved American hickory handle protected with linseed oil.
  • Detailed user’s manual.

Agdor yankee

The agdor yankee 900g felling axe is really a nice tool, the handel is superb, nice forging on the head(the stamp and markings are deep and crisp) paint and sticker look nice. The axe came not sharp as is the case with almost every axe on the market but was well grounded at the factory with equal bevel and not too deep grinding marks took me only 45 minutes to get it to mirror polish. Overall great axe im really impressed with the agdor blue line. This is the 3rd axe I bought from axeman.can, as the other 2 delivery was quick and great service from the people at axeman.can.

First HB/ Adgor axe

Damn nice of a axe, ive been using a crappy princess auto axe for the past 5 years processing firewood but this axe changed everything for me. It chops, splits, and fells like a CHAMP! Came shaving sharp and ready to go, you couldn't ask for a better small sized axe that will last you a lifetime.

What You Should Know Before Purchasing AGDOR 26 Yankee Felling Axe

When choosing an axe, the blade material is a critical factor that influences its performance, durability, and suitability for specific tasks.

OXHEAD AXE SPLITTNG 5LB OX-HEAD 32" HICKORY HANDLE - Axeman.ca

Here are the common types of materials used for axe blades:

  • Hand-Forged Swedish Steel: Crafted in the historic forge at Hults Bruk, the axe head is made from premium Swedish steel.
  • Hardened Forged Steel: blade stays sharp longer than traditional axes.
  • Stainless Steel: More resistant to corrosion, but slightly less durable compared to carbon steel.

Factors to Consider When Choosing an Axe Handle Material

Selecting the right handle material for your axe depends on a balance of factors including intended use, comfort, maintenance, and personal preference.

Hultafors Premium Overstrike Guard - Axeman.ca

Here are the common types of materials used for axe handles:

1. Hickory Handles: Known for its excellent strength and shock absorption.

2. Shock-absorbing FiberComp® handle is lightweight yet stronger than steel to prevent overstrike damage.

3. Glass-Filled Nylon: Lightweight and resistant to moisture and decay, though they may not be as durable under heavy use.

4. Rubber Overmolded Handles: Feature a core material (like fiberglass or steel) covered with rubber for improved grip and vibration dampening.

Frequently Asked Questions about Axes & Hatchets?

Selecting the perfect axe depends on the tasks you plan to perform. For general, all-purpose use, a good rule of thumb is to hold the axe head in your hand with the handle pointing downward—the end of the handle should reach your armpit. Larger axes are ideal for felling trees, while smaller hatchets are great for splitting kindling and lighter duties.

We provide a comprehensive selection of axes to suit all your needs. Our inventory includes felling axes for cutting down trees, splitting axes and mauls for processing firewood, hatchets for camping and light chores, carpenter axes for woodworking projects, and specialized arborist saws. We also carry renowned brands like Gränsfors, Fiskars, Hultafors, and Ochsenkopf.

Selecting the perfect axe depends on the job at hand:

  • Felling Trees: Opt for a felling axe with a long handle and sharp blade designed to cut across the wood grain.
  • Splitting Logs: A splitting axe or maul with a heavy, wedge-shaped head is ideal for splitting wood along the grain.
  • Camping and Kindling: A hatchet or small hand axe is perfect for light chopping and easy to carry.
  • Carpentry and Woodworking: Choose a carpenter's axe for precision and control in detailed work.
