This Aby forest axe is a beautiful hybrid with many types of use. Aby has a straighter edge and grinding, and a good finger notch below the head for increased precision. The long, thin ergonomic handle minimizes the weight, at the same time giving you great force when striking. This axe is perfect for shelter building, processing firewood, and carving, as well as precision work. In short, it is your perfect forest companion. The axe is hand forged and made from Swedish quality steel in the forge at Hults Bruk. The forging tradition goes as far back as 1697, and the steel head is struck 40-60 times to increase density and durability to the head. This axe is named after Åby, the nearest village to Hults Bruk, where many of the workers lived in the middle of the 20th century. Take care of your axe and it will stay a faithful companion for many years to come.

Axe head is a work of art and cuts like butter. The shaft, however, had a inch long flake come off during its first use, then a futher 3inch chunk come off during its second use. Both times the wood flaked along the grain. Already looking into replacing the shaft due to this.
This axe is not only a piece or art, but and incredible tool. It's light weight and easy to handle. Perfect for chopping kindling or removing small limbs. The mirrored bit is mesmerizing! Comes with a high quality leather sheath. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat. Fortunately because of the quality, I'll probably never have to. If you're contemplating buying this axe, just pull the trigger. You'll be glad you did.

Fit and finish is excellent. Well balanced and feels good swinging. I knew it was a smaller axe with the weight but it’s surprisingly small. The guy they used in the Hultafors picture must be a ladies small glove size. I prefer a little more heft to my axe. I will gift it to my son when he’s old enough to use it.
Axeman service is amazing. Ordered my axe at 1pm and it was waiting for courier pickup by 1:30 pm.
