Hult Splitting Axe, 1.5 kg Premium: The Ultimate Tool for Heavy-Duty Splitting Tasks

The Hult Splitting Axe, 1.5 kg Premium is expertly crafted to handle the toughest wood-splitting jobs. Designed for those who need a powerful tool to split logs and wood efficiently, this axe combines traditional craftsmanship with modern design to deliver unmatched performance.

Key Features:

  • Engineered for Heavy-Duty Splitting: The Hult Splitting Axe is built for demanding tasks like splitting logs and wood. The shape of the axe head, paired with slightly convex grinding, makes it highly effective in splitting wood, ensuring that each strike counts.

  • Hand-Forged Swedish Steel: The axe head is hand-forged from top-grade Swedish steel at the historic Hults Bruk forge, a tradition that dates back to 1697. During the forging process, the steel head is struck 40-60 times, enhancing its density and durability. This ensures that the axe is tough enough to withstand the rigors of heavy-duty work.

  • Long, Straight Hickory Handle: The axe features a 750 mm (30 inches) handle made from American hickory, a wood renowned for its strength and resilience. The straight design of the handle allows for maximum speed and control during splitting, making it easier to drive the axe through even the toughest logs. The handle is treated with linseed oil to ensure a comfortable grip and long-lasting durability.

  • Razor-Sharp Convex Edge: The edge of the axe is slightly convex, which contributes to its splitting power. The edge is sharpened, polished, and ready for immediate use, so you can start working as soon as you get it.

  • Protective Leather Sheath: To protect the axe head and maintain its sharpness, the Hult Splitting Axe comes with a high-quality leather sheath. This sheath not only preserves the cutting edge but also adds to the overall durability of the tool.

Specifications:

  • Head Weight: 1500 g
  • Total Weight (including handle): 2072 g

  • Handle Material: American Hickory
  • Edge Type: Slightly Convex Grind

Coup de grace

Used in conjunction with a heavier maul in bigger wood- this beauty provided a relatively lightweight coup de grace that minimizes the effort required

Splits wood like butter! Great tool. Highly, highly recommend.

Can be swung all day

I recently used this axe for 2 days straight splitting firewood. I really like it because of the weight to power ratio. It is light enough that I could swing this axe all day. Although it is not as strong as a maul for tough wood, it can be used much longer. Very satisfied.

Frequently Asked Questions about Axes & Hatchets?

Selecting the perfect axe depends on the tasks you plan to perform. For general, all-purpose use, a good rule of thumb is to hold the axe head in your hand with the handle pointing downward—the end of the handle should reach your armpit. Larger axes are ideal for felling trees, while smaller hatchets are great for splitting kindling and lighter duties.

Selecting the perfect axe depends on the job at hand:

  • Felling Trees: Opt for a felling axe with a long handle and sharp blade designed to cut across the wood grain.
