A welcome piece of kit

Maybe not fair to review a piece of new equipment before you use it but I really don't need to slice up a pile of fire wood to comment. This saw was purchased to replace a Stihl 020 that takes up space in my camp kit. The 020 is an old friend but it needs gas and oil and like all power saws is loud and requires ear protection. I have a lovely Japanese no-kerf saw in my shop that cuts beautiful joints and trims wood flush. This saw's blade has the same Japanese blade design just beefyer. It cuts on the pull which makes it perfect for pruning and small log work. It will have no issue making felling cuts on quite large diameter trees.

I ordered this for my husband for Christmas. I was very happy to be able to support a BC business. The whole ordering process was simple and I love the fact I could use Apple Pay for my purchase. I was easily able to send it to my daughter’s home so it will be a surprise for my husband Christmas morning. Delivery was very prompt. Unable to comment on the item yet

Yes, we carry a variety of replacement blades and saw accessories, including sharpening tools and protective sheaths.

  • Sharpen regularly using a suitable sharpening tool.
  • Store in a dry place to avoid moisture damage to the blade and handle

For cutting green wood or live branches, Arborist Saws with a curved blade are ideal as they allow for smooth and efficient cuts on fresh, softer wood. Their aggressive tooth design helps minimize resistance.

Pruning saws, like Arborist Saws, have curved blades and larger teeth to cut through tree branches quickly, while regular hand saws are designed with straight blades and finer teeth for precision cuts in wood and carpentry projects.

Signs that your saw needs sharpening include:

  • Difficulty making clean cuts
  • The saw frequently getting stuck in the material
  • Noticeable dulling of the blade teeth
