FE6-32 Forcible Entry 6 lb Flathead Fire Axe with 32″ Dual Grip Hickory Handle

The FE6-32 is a professional-grade, single-bit flathead fire axe built for forcible entry and all aspects of municipal firefighting. Designed with performance, usability, and firefighter safety in mind, this axe is ideal for fireground operations, training programs, and student firefighter instruction.

Key Features:

  • Forged 4140 steel head, made in the USA — Precision-forged to match Council Halligan tools, ensuring durability and compatibility.

  • Marrying slot for “The Irons” — Forged slot allows the axe to pair with most popular Halligan tools, creating the iconic firefighter combination tool.

  • Flathead design with tapered wedge blade — Functions as a starter wedge, captures progress while forcing doors, and is effective for chopping, battering, prying, and door stops.

  • Extended poll for balance — The extended poll offsets the head weight so the center of gravity rests in the eye/handle, improving control and reducing fatigue. Balanced to lay flat in an open hand, preventing blade drop or flutter on sideways swings.

  • Hand-sharpened cutting edge — Approximately 5″ in overall length; top of head is flat to stand upright for easy storage or display.

  • Tempered to exceed ANSI standards — Bit hardness is Rc 48–55 for 1-1/4″ back from the cutting edge, exceeding the ANSI minimum Rc 45–60. Poll and eye walls remain in as-forged condition for maximum shock resistance.

  • 32″ Dual Grip American hickory handle — Ergonomic dual-grip design reduces fatigue during prolonged use. Handle dried below 10% moisture content to minimize shrinkage and prevent loosening. The axe head is hydraulically seated and secured with traditional wooden and steel wedges. Interior taper of the eye ensures a strong mechanical bond. Approximately ½″ of the handle length is removed during assembly for optimal fit.

  • Performance-focused design — Ergonomic features and balance improvements reduce fatigue and risk of injury during extended use on the fireground.

Applications:
This axe excels in all municipal firefighting tasks, including chopping, battering, door stops, forcible entry, and training exercises. Its durable construction and professional-grade design make it an invaluable tool for fire departments, instructors, and trainee firefighters.
