Diamond grinding wheel for the Tormek T-8. The Tormek DE-250 Diamond Wheel Extra Fine is a diamond grinding wheel that provides an extra smooth finish and is especially suited to carving tools and knives requiring minimal steel removal. It is 1,200 grit.
With this diamond grinding wheel, you can sharpen all types of materials, including steel, ceramics and carbide. The DE-250 Diamond Wheel Extra Fine fits the Tormek T-8 Original, Tormek T-8 Custom, Tormek T-7 and earlier models with a grinding wheel of 250 mm (9 7/8") diameter.
The DE-250 Diamond Wheel Extra Fine is especially appreciated by woodcarvers and others who need a mirror finish on the bevel. If you need to give your tool a new edge or shape, it's best to do that on another grinding wheel first and then use your DE-250 Diamond Wheel Extra Fine to give the final finish.
All of Tormek's diamond grinding wheels have exceptional durability and constant abrasive power, which means that they always stay round and flat with a full-size diameter. Users who often sharpen the same tool benefit greatly from this, as it simplifies both jig setting and sharpening.
The constant shape makes it possible to sharpen either on the side of the wheel or on its upper surface. Side sharpening is perfect for smaller tools such as knives, chisels, carving gouges and v-tools. The result is an edge with a completely flat bevel, instead of a slightly concave surface.
For sharpening on the side of the diamond grinding wheels, we recommend using the MB-102 Multi Base together with the jig designed for your specific tool. Both the base and the jigs give you support and control throughout the sharpening process.
All diamond grinding wheels are supplied with 150 ml of ACC-150 Anti-Corrosion Concentrate. Always add the concentrate to the water when sharpening with water to prevent rust on the grinding wheel. Add 10 ml (0.02 pints) of concentrate to 250 ml (0.4 pints) of water (~4%). We recommend always using water when sharpening with diamond grinding wheels if possible, as it both prolongs the service life of the wheel and provides a smoother sharpening surface. You can also sharpen without water.

The DE-250 Diamond Wheel Extra Fine comes fully assembled and ready to use.
I chose this Tormek diamond wheel as it’s back with a warranty and Tormek quality expectations. The wheel had blemishes when received and most of it get unoticed when used the first times. Still should get a better way to package the precious wheel in my opinion at Tormek. Will see how it holds on the long term. Will try to keep the count of how many knives will be done on it. Very Light pressure needs to be put on it. Quite abrasive on the first uses. Too bad the radius on the edge is not larger a bit.
