I've been carving spoons for a while using a standard hatchet and later a carpenter's axe. Recently, I decided to invest in a dedicated carving axe.
Axeman was about to go on holiday, but he still answered my questions almost immediately and even sent me a photo of the exact axe he was shipping. Once I submitted payment, he had it in the mail the very same day.
Needless to say, the axe is exactly what I was hoping for. The craftsmanship is outstanding, and it's a pleasure to use. If you've never used a proper carving axe before, all I can say is that it's a game changer.
I didn't want to buy a cheap carving axe, but I also couldn't justify spending boutique prices. This strikes the perfect balance. It arrived razor sharp and is easy to maintain with a quick strop.
