The Sätra is one of them. Equally at home around the campsite, in the garden, or beside the woodpile, this longer-handled hatchet is designed for kindling, camp chores, garden work, and light chopping. Its 1.3 lb. head and 17-inch American hickory handle provide added leverage and chopping power without stepping up to a full-size forest axe, delivering a longer, more efficient swing while maintaining the control and portability expected from a hatchet. Versatile and dependable, the Sätra offers an excellent balance of reach, performance, and packability that makes it a natural companion for everyday outdoor tasks. Its updated Yankee-pattern geometry improves edge durability and helps the blade release cleanly through repeated chopping, reducing effort and increasing efficiency over extended use. Hand-forged at Hults Bruk from proprietary Swedish steel, the Sätra is hand-sharpened and finished forge-black, resulting in a reliable companion built to serve faithfully around camp, home, and garden for years to come.

Product Highlight

Hults Bruk axe heads are forged from customized high-quality steel, with an alloy specifically engineered for this purpose, providing exceptional strength and performance. The steel is produced completely CO₂-neutral and is fully recyclable. Each head is hand-forged using the open-die free forging method. The axe head is then hardened and tempered for long-lasting durability. With a hardness of approximately 54–56 HRC on the Rockwell scale, these axe heads offer superior sharpness and edge retention. The cutting edge is hand-ground and polished to ensure precision and reliability with every swing. As one of the final steps in the forging press, each axe head is proudly stamped with the traditional Hults Bruk mark - a symbol of quality and craftsmanship.

Disclaimer: As each Hults Bruk axe is hand forged, minor variations in weight, dimensions, and finish may occur.

Weight (lbs) 2.2

Head Weight (lbs) 1.3

Handle Length 17"
